No Christmas Tree at the State Capitol this Year
Monday, November 16th, 2020 -- 10:09 AM
(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Gov. Tony Evers has made the decision to not bring a Christmas tree into the state Capitol this year for the holidays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
That's after he closed the building to the public in March as the virus began to spike. Typically governors ask students to make ornaments for the tree each December, which is displayed in the rotunda. But this year, Evers is asking students to make ornaments around the theme of 'hope,' which will be sent to veterans' homes, hospitals, and nursing homes across the state.
He also called on students and teachers to share classroom or virtual experiences making ornaments with pictures and stories through Facebook and Twitter using #WICelebrateHope and #WIHope.
