Medford Student Charged with a Bomb Scare Will Enter Plea Next Week

-A 17-year-old student charged in Taylor County Court for a bomb threat that evacuated the Medford High School at the beginning October pleaded not guilty to the charge on Thursday.The threat was reported around on October 1st of last year, after being discovered on the website Yik Yak by another student. Authorities investigating the incident discovered that the threat was made on a computer inside the school. They used geo-tracking to discover who was behind the incident and found out 17-year-old Jacob Gouza of Athens had sent the threat. The 17-year-old admitted to authorities during the questioning that he did it. He said he was just joking and he was sorry.
Police did sweep the building at the time and no bomb was found. Gouza is charged with a felony making a bomb scare. Gouza pleaded not guilty to the charge on Thursday and he waived the preliminary hearing that was scheduled. However, he does have a plea and sentencing hearing set for next week.
