Marshfield Man Appears in Court for Packer Ticket Scam

Tuesday, March 10th, 2015 -- 11:49 AM

-A Marshfield man that scammed 15 people out of about $46,000 involving Green Bay Packers tickets appeared in Wood County Court on Monday.

37-year-old Patrick Blachut was arrested after he offered to sell people Packers tickets at businesses in Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids. By the time he was arrested, most of the victims' money was gone as Blachut lost it gambling, had given it to family and paid some bills.

The victims lived in Auburndale, Chippewa Falls, Fond du Lac, Marshfield, Plover, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids and some of them spent over $6,000 on what they thought were season tickets. The scam began to unravel after the people went to Lambeau Field to get the tickets and there were none. Some of the victims were able to get their money back, but Blachut still owes over $46,000 to them.

Blachut had a $10,000 signature bond set against him on Monday, he's been charged with 7 counts of theft by false representation and 8 counts of misdemeanor theft. He's also facing similar charges in Eau Claire County for the same scam.
