Murphy Leads River Falls Girls To First State Appearance

Junior Karly Murphy, granddaughter of Diane Murphy of Neillsville, leads the River Falls girls basketball team in scoring and rebounding as they head to WIAA Girls State Basketball Tournament in Green Bay for the first time.Murphy comes into the State Tournament averaging 19.4 points per game and 14.4 rebounds a game for the Wildcats. She had 19 points and 18 rebounds in the Wildcat's 49-40 win over Mosinee in the Sectional Final last Saturday in Marshfield.
Karly is a 6'1" junior who as already committed to play for UW-Green Bay.
River Falls is making their first trip to state in girls basketball after finishing 5th in the Big Rivers Conference. After an 11-11 record in the regular season, they have won 4 in a row to make it to the Resch Center in Green Bay.
The Wildcats will take on Cedarburg in a Division 2 State Semi-Final on Friday afternoon at around 3:15 pm.
