Elk in Jackson County

-In a few weeks, people may be able to spot elk in Jackson County.The Jackson County Wildlife Fund, the Ho-Chunk Nation, the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Wisconsin DNR all worked together to bring elk to the area.
The DNR took 150 elk from Kentucky and they plan to release 75 into Jackson County. They'll be wearing GPS tracking collars so the department can keep an eye on them. Eventually, if the herd gets strong enough, there's hope that an elk hunt can be organized.
The project was funded through private money and over $400,000 was raised to bring elk to Jackson County.
