Lightning Causes Grass Fire Near Stanley

Thursday, April 8th, 2021 -- 12:00 PM

A lightning bolt caused a grass fire near Stanley Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Stanley Police Department, around 3:45pm on Tuesday, lightning hit a power pole at the intersection of County Highway NN and Pine Street.  This caused the grass beneath to catch fire.

There was no damage to any structures and no injuries from the incident.  The fire was contained quickly by the Stanley Fire Department.
