Loyal Girls Are Regional Champs!

The Loyal Greyhound girls basketball team won their 3rd Regional Championship in team history on Saturday night as they beat Abbotsford 48-36.It wasn't easy for the Hounds, who improved to 22-3 on the season, as Abbotsford got to within 5 points in the 4th quarter and Loyal had two girls foul out, but they managed to hit some freethrows late and hang on for the win.
55 freethrows were attempted in all, 29 by the Falcons and 26 by the Greyhounds. Both teams made 16.
Loyal's Karsyn Rueth led all scorers with 16 points, Morgan Reinwand had 8. Shelly Kneifl led Abbotsford with 9 points.
Loyal will now take on Assumption in a Sectional Semi-Final Thursday night in Waupaca. You can hear that game live on 92.7 FM WPKG starting at 7 pm.
