Citizens Employment and Training, Inc. Helps Seniors Find Work, Part 3

Wednesday, February 25th, 2015 -- 11:18 AM

-Citizens Employment and Training, Inc. is looking for interested parties in Clark County that would like to take advantage of their services.

Kay Radlinger, the Executive Director of Citizens Employment, said that Citizens has placed people in the county already including at the Neillsville and Greenwood School District. She also explained how that process works.

She said, "How our program works is we have what we call host agencies and the host agencies are always nonprofit or government agencies. And what we do is we have contracts with these agencies such as humane societies, Goodwill, we actually have people at the DMV, the Department of Transportation, a lot of different places. What we do, is they come on our program and we place them in one of these host agencies. And school districts are very supportive of our program and we do place people in a lot of the school districts."

"What happens is, right now, we actually increased the hours, they can work 20-25 hours a week and they stay at that agency and the agency agrees to train them. We might get somebody that used to do heavy lifting and they just can't do that anymore. So, we work to train them in something that their body can do now and the host agency agrees to help do the training with these people."

'They can be on our program, actually, for up to 4 years. The goal is to find them employment outside of unsubsidized employment, but a lot of times our host agencies hire them. And their salary actually comes through our agency through our grant money. So, Citizens Employment and Training actually pays for their salary. So, the host agency has a really good employee and we pay the salary."
