Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Awareness Month May Be Ending, But They Can Alway Use Help

Wednesday, February 25th, 2015 -- 11:04 AM

-February is almost over, but as Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Awareness Month comes to a close, they remind you that they can always use help.

Judy Morrow explained what Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers is for those that may not know.

She said, "Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Clark County is a faith based organization whose mission is to help older adults, 60 and over, and those with disabilities maintain independent living by combining supportive service through volunteers."

The biggest project Interfaith does is the "Change of Seasons" project which includes volunteers getting together to clean the yards of the elderly. They also do little things around the house for them in order for the elderly to maintain their independence.

Judy encourages everyone to just check on a neighbor or an elderly person you may know to help them out. You don't have to join Interfaith, but you can still help.

"I would just like to encourage everyone, again I say this so many times, you don't have to join Interfaith as an organization. Look around your neighborhood. You as a volunteer become a friend and you gain a friend. It would be so nice if Interfaith could have a list of people that we could call when that need comes up. So, when you get on the list, you might not have a need instantly, today, but when that person calls, it's an emergency for them."
