Lindner Named Freshman Of the Week

Neillsville native Jenny Lindner of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.Lindner had an impressive outing for the Panthers in her only action last week. She netted a career-high 25 points to put her team in position for a victory before a late rally helped Youngstown State escape with the victory.
The 25 points topped her former season high of 19 and marked the third-highest point total for a freshman in school history. She finished 8-of-13 from the floor overall, including a remarkable 5-of-7 from three-point range. Her five made 3's finished just one off the school freshman record of six in a game.
Lindner added five rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in the tough loss.
The award is the second of Lindner's career. She is just the third UWM freshman to earn the honor since the league implemented them starting prior to the 2012-13 campaign.
Up next, Lindner and her teammates head to Chicago to take on UIC Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
