Citizens Employment and Training, Inc. Helps Seniors Find Work, Part 1

Monday, February 23rd, 2015 -- 11:54 AM

-Citizens Employment and Training, Inc. is looking for interested parties in Clark County that would like to take advantage of their services.

Kay Radlinger, the Executive Director of Citizens Employment, explained what Citizens does and gave a brief history of the program as well.

She said, "Citizens Employment and Training is a program that finds employment for people over the age of 55 who are currently unemployed. Our inception dates way back to 1965 when Congress enacted the Old Americans Act, which was to deliver social and nutritional service to older Americans. And then in '68, they gave funding to the Department of Labor to help with displaced farmers, actually, who were losing income source because the bigger farms were coming in and taking away the small farm businesses."

"And at that point, Senior Service America came about and they're out in Washington D.C. The DOL gave them grant money to provide employment services to people over the age of 55. And that Senior Service America sub-grants with agencies such as us and we were fortunate enough to be chose as one of their sub-grants. We are based out of Eau Claire, but we provide service to 8 counties and Clark County is one of those."
