Saturday, February 21st, 2015 -- 8:21 AM
The Greenwood School Board looked at a draft calendar for the 2015-2016 school year.High School Principal Todd Fischer will survey the parents of Greenwood's junior class regarding a preferred 2016 graduation date as Memorial weekend always provokes conversations.
Mr. Fischer is also studying options for regular in-service time using early release days. Reviewing assessment results, PLC development and curriculum work are a few of the initiatives needing time. The 2015-16 calendar is set to be finalized in March.
Mr. Fischer and Interim Administrator Mark Lacke are trying to drastically update the summer school program to include a wide array of enhancement classes. In a separate meeting with staff they are being asked to explore the various options.
Finally, a motion to change the 4K program for the next school year to offer two sessions with a smaller student to teacher ratio, approximately 15:1, was approved. The superintendent and principal were directed to talk with involved parties before the design details are formed.
