Consortium Begins Initial Steps in Bringing High Speed Internet to Clark County

-A consortium of individuals representing agriculture, banking, cooperatives, healthcare and more came together in Greenwood on Thursday afternoon to talk about ways to bring better internet connectivity to Clark County.The group heard from representatives from UW-Extension, West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, CESA 10 and Memorial Medical Center on how they could bring broadband connectivity to the entire county.
With internet usage steadily increasing, as well as more devices running on wired and wireless networks, better connectivity is needed for residents and businesses. One suggestion brought up was the pooling of resources from various businesses, entities and organizations in the county and creating their own public/private network to better connect the county. That is something that was done in Chippewa County and the Eau Claire area and beyond and it worked very well.
As of now, volunteers and the consortium will go forward to make a plan, acquire funding and find a way to bring high speed internet to Clark County.
