-Memorial Medical Center has introduced the new QuiqMeds Program at their facilities.Michael Conard, a Certified Physician Assistant at the Loyal MMC Clinic, explained what types of medications they dispense from the QuiqMeds system.
He said, "When you have a system like this, you can put whatever kinds of medications you want in them. For us, it's mainly about the types of medications were going to be using to start patients on for acute illnesses like antibiotics, tamaflu for influenza, high blood pressure medications for that new patient who you want to start on medications right away and maybe want to only do a 30 day trial before starting them on something long term. Cough medications, we do have some of the over the counter things like Tylenol and Motrin and children's preparations and those types of things. Medications for tummy ailments and things like that."
"We do not keep narcotics. We don't dispense narcotics out of these machines. Those require a written prescription for things like that and it's a safety issue. It's all mainly acute care and chronic illness medications."
The new program is designed to make things easier and more efficient for MMC's patients.
