Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Awareness Month, Part 2

Friday, February 13th, 2015 -- 11:34 AM

-February is Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Awareness Month.

Judy Morrow explained that all the little things that volunteers do for the elderly and home bound really make a difference in their lives.

She said, "I just have never seen a better program because as people get older the last thing they want to do is, first of all, admit that they can't do their daily chores and, secondly, be moved from their homes. So, if we as volunteers can go to their homes and do the very simple projects for them and keep them there, it's an advantage for everybody."

"And I know that sometimes Interfaith looks like such a minimal task that we do. If it's putting safety bars in the bathroom, or putting a ramp in or any of those things. If you think to yourself being unable to do it. The vacuuming the floor because they can't push the vacuum cleaner anymore. They're unstable, so they're using walkers and canes, so the laundry is hard for them to do. So, when you look at what we're doing as volunteers, it's not large projects all the time, but we are changing the world one elderly person at a time. We're changing their life for them."
