Local Man Graduates from Basic Training in Texas

-A local man, U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Alan D. Hughes, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, in San Antonio, Texas.The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Hughes earned distinction as an honor graduate.
He is the son of Richard W. Hughes of Gilman, and husband of Stephanie A. Hughes of Greenwood. The airman is a 1995 graduate of Thorp High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in 1999 from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls.
