Memorial Medical Center's Michael Conard Talks QuiqMeds, Part 1
Thursday, February 12th, 2015 -- 11:04 AM
-Memorial Medical Center has introduced the new QuiqMeds Program at their facilities.Michael Conard, a Certified Physician Assistant at the Loyal MMC Clinic, talked about what QuiqMeds is and how it came about.
He said, "QuiqMeds is a dispensing machine for medications that we can use in the office to give people the prescriptions they need when the pharmacy isn't open or, in our particular case here in Loyal, there's no local pharmacy. It's a patient convenience issue."
"MMC started looking in 2013 at their Strategic Plan, what they wanted to do, and one of the things we identified was some convenience issues for patients. Especially, in the outreach clinic area, our Loyal and Greenwood areas. No pharmacy available, so we expanded hours at the clinics, so we have evening hours three nights a week between Loyal and Greenwood. They have evening hours in urgent care at the Neillsville center."
"And one of the big issues is after pharmacies close, what do you do? In a lot of cases, we may not have medications that normally you'd get for out patient stuff. So, they looked at the QuiqMeds."
The new program is designed to make things easier and more efficient for MMC's patients.
