Greenwood School District Searches for New Administrator, Interim Administrator Takes Over While the Search Continues, Part 2

-The Greenwood School District is searching for a new administrator and while that process continues, the district is currently being run by Interim Administrator Mark Lacke.After the recent resignation of Superintendent Jennifer Vogler, the district was seeking someone to fill the position while they searched for a full time candidate.
Mark Lacke fit into the position nicely. Mr. Lacke talked about the hiring process the district is going through in looking for a new administrator.
He said, "Usually, when there's an opening like this, school boards go out and find an agency to help recruit and do background checks and screen applicants and try and find the right set of people. The Greenwood Board of Education went with Wisconsin Association of Schools Boards; WASB has a superintendent search service."
"So, they announced the position early. They have met with elementary teacher groups, the met with a community group and a focus group and the school board, over the last couple months, to try and get a picture of what Greenwood needs for a permanent superintendent."
"They put that into a description and distributed it and the applications, for this position, are due February 6th. After those applications come in, the WASB search service screens them and looks to see who might fit. Then they meet with the school board over here on February 18th to review the applications and the interviewees and decided who they're going to interview."
"Those interviews, hopefully, will be February 25th and 26th. They are going to do the background checks the first week of March, have a final round of interviews with the finalists on March 11th; maybe do some site visits at the districts those people are coming from and, they hope, by the end of March, like March 23rd, to make the final selection."
Mark will be at Greenwood through June and the board hopes to have a new administrator hired and ready to begin by July 1st.
