Greenwood School District Searches for New Administrator, Interim Administrator Takes Over While the Search Continues, Part 1

Monday, February 9th, 2015 -- 9:46 AM

-The Greenwood School District is searching for a new administrator and while that process continues, the district is currently being run by Interim Administrator Mark Lacke.

After the recent resignation of Superintendent Jennifer Vogler, the district was seeking someone to fill the position while they searched for a full time candidate.

Mark Lacke fit into the position nicely.

He said, "I started in '73 at Edgar as a High School Math teacher and I taught math their for 8 years. Then I became the High School Principal and I did that for 21 years; the last 10 years, I was the Superintendent of the Schools. I retired from Edgar after 39 years in June of 2012. I enjoyed retirement a lot. I've done a lot of volunteer work with the Make a Wish Foundation with fine arts people in the Edgar area. I'm still the Athletic Commissioner of two conferences, the Marawood and the Wisconsin Valley Conference, so I make schedules and hire referees for about 21 schools. I have 4 grand kids, so I've been very busy."

Mark talked about why he came out of retirement and came to Greenwood.

"I got a call from the Madison office to come over and talk to the people of Greenwood in early December. I've always had a lot of respect for Greenwood. I've got good friends that are Lindners and Greenwood is full of Lindners. I've heard nothing but good things about the community and the value they put on education, so I came over to talk with them and here I am!"

Mark will be at Greenwood through June and the board hopes to have a new administrator hired and ready to begin by July 1st.
