Neillsville Chamber of Commerce Recognition Banquet, Agri-Business of the Year Award: Art and Sandy Luedeke

Friday, February 6th, 2015 -- 11:00 AM

-The Neillsville Chamber of Commerce held their Recognition Banquet at the Neillsville American Legion Saturday evening.

The winner of the Agri-Business of the Year Award was Art and Sandy Luedeke. Dr. Greg Foster, the awards presenter for the evening, talked about the history of the farm.

He said, "Luedeke farms began in 1976 as a 5 and 1 half acre hobby farm which grew to slightly over 100 acres of owned and rented land in St. Croix, Minnesota. As Art and Sandy's three boys grew up, they demonstrated an interest in farming. Their oldest son Terry was managing a beef herd, their middle son David was interested in crop farming and their youngest son Brian was working on the farm while pursuing an engineering degree. In 2002, Terry and David found a farm for sale near Neillsville and the decision was made to expand Luedeke farms into Wisconsin. They sold their farm in Minnesota and began an extended transition period to the Neillsville area."

Art and Sandy Luedeke were very humbled to receive the award.

Art said, "To say the least, we are very humbled to receive this award. As mentioned, our Luedeke's farm addition was done by two young men who saw a need to keep to Neillsville and find a farm. And by God's graces we're here. With Terry going back to Minnesota and running his own business, it's very hard to accomplish anything, but I am blessed with the greatest community and the greatest neighbors in the world. I always believe that no one accomplishes anything by themselves. We love Neillsville, we love the community and the people here."

Besides the award presentations, there was a delicious meal and entertainment by the Clark County Male Chorus.
