Black River Falls Inmate Sentenced for Escape in July of 2012

-A Black River Falls inmate was sentenced for charges he received after his escape from the Black River Falls Correctional Institution in July of 2012.The incident started in mid-July of 2012, when James Misleveck and James Newman simply walked out the front door of the prison. During the escape, the two suspects stole a shotgun, carjacked a woman and took her hostage briefly and stole another vehicle before losing authorities in Tomah. They ended up in Florida where they beat up a store clerk and led authorities on a high speed chase before being caught and brought back to Wisconsin.
Misleveck was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, kidnapping, theft and escaping criminal arrest. The charge of taking and driving a vehicle without consent, possessing a weapon without consent, 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety and armed robbery were dismissed and read in.
Misleveck was sentenced to a total of 35 years in prison and 21 years of extended supervision. He also owes the courts $1,401.30.
