-The Neillsville City Council heard the Public Works Report before their meeting on Tuesday. The usual amount of work has been done in the city including park and equipment maintenance, snow and ice removal, sanding, hauling brush and compost, removed Christmas decorations, straightened signs, burned the brush pile and filled pot holes.
The department also had to have a plow hookup frame rebuilt for $2,300 and they also have one of their freightliner trucks at the repair shop, but that fix is under warranty. Finally, it was mentioned that the work at the former Buck's Dollar Bar building is almost complete.
Also, Alderman Chuck Glassbrenner gave an update on Memorial Medical Center's financial situation. For December, the hospital had a $285,000 profit and this also finished out a positive profit for the 4th quarter. They also had a $2.2 million increase in revenues from 2013 to 2014. Their proposed 2015 budget is also forecasting a profit for the year. Neillsville Mayor Steve Mabie jokingly said that he was incarcerated at MMC while he was having some surgery done and he said the staff seems to be more positive and busier.
