Neillsville City Council Sends Highway 10 Resolution Back to the Planning Commission

Wednesday, January 28th, 2015 -- 8:19 AM

-The Neillsville City Council voted to send a resolution back to the city's Planning Commission at the Tuesday night meeting.

The resolution calls for expanding Highway 10 from County Highway B to the west end of Clark County's boarder into a four lane highway.

The county owns 160 acres of land that boarder Highway 10 on the north side. This resolution would have the State of Wisconsin pay $320,000 for the 160 acres to create a four lane Highway 10 that they feel would be safer and more attractive for people traveling through the area. It was also stated that any timber cut from that 160 acres would be done by the county and they would keep the funds.

This resolution was simply asking for the city's support. However, the city attorney felt that some wording needed to be changed in the resolution, provided on Tuesday night, regarding the city's stance on the proposal. When that's complete, the resolution will go back to the Planning Commission before coming back to the Common Council.

If the Common Council approves it, then it will go to the county's Executive Committee before going in front of the entire County Board for approval. If everything goes through, the state would begin the construction sometime in 2016 or 2017.
