Boyceville Man Charged in Clark County for Using a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime

Tuesday, January 27th, 2015 -- 11:00 AM

-A Boyceville man is facing charges in Clark County for exposing a child to harmful material and using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.

According to the criminal complaint, a Thorp Police Officer received a report that 31-year-old Shawn Anderson was staying at the Heritage Court Motel in Thorp. The officer discovered there was a warrant out for the arrest of Anderson in Indiana. After arriving at the hotel, Anderson was discovered in a room with a 16-year-old girl.

The girl indicated that she had met Anderson on an app known as Mbuzzy and, after losing contact with him for a year, they began contacting each other again through Facebook and text messages. During this time, the man asked the girl to send a nude photo to him and he sent nude photos of himself to the girl.

After a period of messaging and meeting once, with the girl insisting they had not had sex, they met a second time and had sex. When Anderson was arrested with the girl earlier this month, she insisted they had not engaged in sex at that time either. When police arrested Anderson, they found the photos the girl had mentioned.

Anderson is being charged here in Clark County and will appear in court on February 12th. He also has an extradition hearing that day for the warrant in Indiana.
