Clark County Board of Supervisors Approves Selling Land from County Parks

Tuesday, January 27th, 2015 -- 9:34 AM

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved selling county park land and converting other land to fall under the guidelines of the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

The board approved closing and selling the Black River County Park, selling encroached land at Russell Memorial County Park and approving the sale of encroached land at Snyder County Park. The land for Russell Memorial and Snyder is similar to another resolution that was improved, in which evolving technology showed that private landowners were encroaching on county land by a small amount. The county decided to sell that land out right, receiving $2,900 for the Russell Memorial land and $2,100 for the Snyder land.

The Black River County Park, located along Highway 29, was sold because it provided limited recreational opportunities for the county. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will purchase the land for $25,000 as they plan to expand Highway 29 into a freeway down the road.

Finally, the next resolution established using land along Highway X as a replacement for the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund as Black River County Park fell under those funds, but with it being sold, new land needed to be established to keep those funds.
