Even with the Changes, Neillsville's Police Department is in Good Shape, Part 4

Monday, January 26th, 2015 -- 11:21 AM

-The Neillsville Police Department has experienced a few changes the past several months, but the transition has been smooth and they continue to offer great services to the Neillsville Community.

One of the first initiatives Chief Scott Klueckmann began to work on when he took over was the body camera program. He talked about the support his officers have expressed in regards to the program.

Chief Klueckmann said, "All the officers are in favor of the program. It's interesting because Jeff Pokallus and I are the oldest members of the Police Department. We've been here for 24 and 25 years. At that time, that would have been the late 80's, that's when dashboard cameras were just starting out in law enforcement. We've seen this digital media come into law enforcement. New officers are very, very receptive of it. They're kinda born on technology like this. So, it's pretty much second nature to them. They're all in support of it. They see it as a positive step. They don't see it as me trying to spy on them to see how they're doing. They see it as a benefit, not only for them, but citizens as well."

The department has several new initiatives they hope to implement in the New Year.
