Watershed Appropriation Resolution Approved
Sunday, January 25th, 2015 -- 8:28 AM
The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved increasing the maximum appropriations for the Watershed Improvements Account. The Clark County Land Conservation Committee is responsible for the Flood Prevention Structure located at the Sportsman Lake near Owen. A non-lapsing fund was created not to exceed $150,000.
However, yearly maintenance and operation costs sometimes exceed that amount. This resolution asked that the amount be increased to $300,000. This money is then used for improvement projects for the Sportsmen Lake recreation area. The money put into the fund come from, not only private donations, but from timber sales and crop land rent.
An amendment was proposed to lower the increase from $150,000 to $100,000 as the fund would be receiving money from another resolution approved during their Thursday meeting, but it was voted down. The resolution was approved with 22 voting yes, 3 voting no and 4 were absent.
