-The Neillsville Police Department has experienced a few changes the past several months, but the transition has been smooth and they continue to offer great services to the Neillsville Community.Recently hired Neillsville Police Chief Scott Klueckmann described his transition into the Chief of Police position, after taking over for former Chief Brad Lindner, as seamless.
Chief Klueckmann said, "Over all the transition, when Chief Lindner retired, was pretty seamless. He left a pretty good framework in place. I didn't have to re-invent the well here. I just took over the reins. All the policies were in place and personnel was solid, so I didn't have any of those issues to worry about. Except for hiring a replacement. We had an eligibility list so all of that went pretty seamless in replacing my position. Seamless, I guess is the word, it went very smooth."
With Chief Klueckmann's transition into his new position, his old position needed to be filled as well and Jason King fit the position nicely.
"We hired Jason from our eligibility list," said Chief Klueckmann. "There were officers left on our list. They had already been interviewed. They had already been tested for the interview, so it was just a matter of seeing if they were still interested in the position, doing a back ground check on them and giving a conditional offer of employment pending the outcome of a psychological exam, medical exam and drug screening. Ultimately, Jason King passed all those and was hired, December 1st is when, I believe, I gave him the final offer of employment. He accepted and he started on January 2nd. He's currently just released from the Field Training Program and he's on his own starting tonight, (Tuesday) ahead of schedule."
The department has several new initiatives they hope to implement in the New Year.
