Neillsville Man Allegedly Involved in Wood County Crime Spree Appears in Court

Friday, January 9th, 2015 -- 10:54 AM

-A Neillsville man charged in Wood County for a crime spree that occurred a couple years ago appeared in court on Thursday.

29-year-old Jeffrey Bryan was named as a suspect in the burglaries of Dave's Service Center in Auburndale, Draxler's Service in the Village of Hewitt, Cherco Inc in Arpin, The Store in Auburndale, Pomp's Tire in Marshfield and one private residence. The tip came from an anonymous source.

According to authorities, in every burglary the suspect would wear the same clothing including a black face mask, wire rim glasses, a dark jacket and a backpack. He would also carry a crowbar. After Bryan was named as a suspect, authorities were able to match a shoe print to him. From one of the burglaries over $180,000 was stolen and other monetary items were stolen from the others. When police searched his home, they found items connected to the robberies. The authorities also testified that Bryan had significant losses and gains at the casino.

In the end, probable cause was found during Bryan's preliminary hearing on Thursday so his court proceedings will continue. A $10,000 signature bond is set against him and he's currently serving a prison sentence in Marathon County. Authorities are also looking into charging a family member of Bryan as that individual had knowledge of the robberies.
