Cheese Production Up in November

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Total cheese production in the Dairy State was up for the third consecutive month in November.The USDA reports that Wisconsin's dairy plants produced 241.6 million pounds of cheese during the month, which was up 1.2 percent from November 2013, but 4.2 percent lower compared to this past October, which had more days on the calendar.
Nationally, 949 million pounds of cheese was produced. That was 2.9 percent more than the same month last year, but 3.3 percent below the previous month's production totals.
Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 22.3 million pounds, which was up 2.6 percent from last year, but 6.1 percent lower from last month.
