-A Dorchester man charged in Marathon County Court for killing eight three-day old puppies with a sledgehammer appeared in court on Tuesday for a motion hearing.According to investigators, the incident happened on August 9th in the Town of Holton. The puppies were the offspring of 68-year-old Terrence Seubert's Blue Heeler. Seubert said he distracted the dog with food, put the puppies in a bucket and dropped the sledgehammer on them. He also said he placed them in a bucket of water for 20 minutes before burying them.
The motion discussed was a motion to dismiss the case, but after hearing arguments and information regarding the theory of the criminal complaint, the motion was denied. Seubert did enter a not guilty plea to the charges against him.
Seubert has 8 felony charges filed against him and he's free on a $1,500 signature bond. If convicted of the maximum amount in this case, he could spend 28 years in prison.
