Brrrrr.....

Wednesday, January 7th, 2015 -- 8:15 AM

-The bitter cold temperatures are continuing today and even though today will likely be the coldest day of the week, things won't improve much over the next few days.

With highs only expected to be between -5 to -10 below zero and winds blowing between 12 and 25 mph, we could see wind chills as low as -40 below zero this morning. Clark County is under a Wind Chill Warning until 12pm today. Most school districts in the county are closed today including Neillsville, Granton, Loyal, Greenwood, Owen-Withee and more.

Although this extreme cold may seem like a normal trend with January of 2014 and now January of 2015, this type of weather actually doesn't happen that often, usually only occurring 2 or 3 times a decade.

As for the rest of the week, we could see some snow on Thursday and high temperatures in the positive single digits. On Friday, the deep freeze returns with gusty winds and high temperatures for the day slightly below zero. Friday night into Saturday morning will be another cold one with low temps in the -15 to -20 below zero range, but we should be in the single digit positives for highs on Saturday.

Things will begin to improve after that with highs in the teens on Sunday and normal temperatures for January returning on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
