Fennimore Man Seriously Injured in Black River Falls Crash

-A Fennimore man was seriously injured in a crash in Black River Falls just after Christmas.According to the press release from the Black River Falls Police Department, they were called to a crash in the area of Foundation Trail adjacent to Grant Street in the city on December 26th just after 1pm. An investigation revealed that the vehicle, driven by 35-year-old Charles Slaght III, was heading eastbound on the Foundation pedestrian trail at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then hit one of the large rocks placed alongside the trail.
The vehicle began to slide, hit another set of rocks, causing it to spin several times before coming to a rest and pinning the driver inside. He was freed and transported to the Black River Falls Memorial Hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries and he was then transported to a La Crosse Hospital.
Authorities are still investigating, but they have said they believe alcohol was a factor in the incident.
