Monday, January 5th, 2015 -- 10:52 AM
-A La Crosse man entered a plea in his case regarding the death of a Neillsville woman. In December of 2012, 19-year-old Monica Cooper passed away and an autopsy at the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office determined she died of a heroin overdose.
During the investigation, it was determined that 27-year-old Reavon Taylor was the alleged source of the heroin. He had been charged with 1st degree reckless homicide, but due to a deal reached between the state and defense, Taylor is now charged with manufacturing/delivering heroin. The state agreed to reduce the charge if the defense would stipulate to the state's sentencing recommendation which is 3 years in prison and 3 years of extended supervision.
During his appearance this morning, Taylor was found guilty, due to a no contest plea, of the new charge. He will be sentenced in March.
