Thorp Farmer Competing for 2015 Outstanding Young Farmer Award

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Seven producers will compete to become the winner of the 2015 Outstanding Young Farmer Award next month.Organizers say a special awards weekend is being planned for January 23-25 at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Weston, where candidates will be interviewed, tested and evaluated by a panel of judges. Event coordinators say an awards banquet will be held Saturday night.
The group will also spend part of the weekend touring area farms and agribusinesses including Mullins Cheese. This year's nominees for the award include Andrew & Beth Belter, Athens; Tom & Amanda Cornette, Luxemburg; Jeremy Miess, Muscoda; Amy Raboine, Reedsburg; Craig & Nicole Schmidt, Juneau and Marieke Penterman, Thorp.
Winners are selected based on progress in their agricultural career, soil and water conservation and contributions to community, state and nation.
