Increased Patrol on Highway 13 by Several Departments
Friday, December 19th, 2014 -- 8:17 AM
-On Saturday, December 20th, the Wood County Sheriff's Department, the Marshfield Police Department and the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department will have extra officers on patrol. These officers will be working on Highway 13 and its intersecting roads and streets; all the way from Adams County line to Portage and Marathon County lines. The purpose of the extra officers is to be watching for people speeding, not wearing seatbelts and driving under the influence.
The departments want to make drivers aware that they will be out there, so please reduce your speed, put on your seatbelts and if necessary get someone to drive for you or give you a ride home if you feel there is any chance you're under the influence.
Their goal is to help people have a safe holiday season and raise awareness of these important traffic laws. This enforcement effort is being funded with a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation-Bureau of Traffic Safety.
