Pittsville Man Appears in Wood County Court for Child Abuse Charges

A Pittsville man appeared in Wood County Court for child abuse charges on Tuesday.

According to court records, Brian Scapardine was accused of several acts of abuse including allegedly picking up a child and her sibling by the throat and making threats, picking a child up by their head, pointing a gun at them and threatening to shoot their horse, threatening to stab them with a fork for chewing with their mouths open, tossing a child into a lake when she annoyed him, and would wake them up by pouring ice water on them.

Scarpadine is facing numerous charges and could spend 46 years in prison if convicted and sentenced to the maximum amount.  During his arraignment on Tuesday, he entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him.
