Thursday, December 11th, 2014 -- 9:28 AM
-The Neillsville City Council heard the Annual Report on Neillsville's Taxi Service.Mark Jones, President of Abby Vans Inc., said they are going to be providing new, updated brochures in Neillsville residents' tax bills this year and they are focusing on buying gift certificates or coupons in their advertising with our radio station.
Mark also said that the rates have been set for some time and they are at a good price for those that use the service, which primarily consists of the elderly and disabled. This year, the taxi service has exceeded their numbers from last year. As of the end of November, they have exceeded last year's numbers and are expecting a 12% increase for 2014. The only month under 1,000 fares in 2014 was April.
However, revenue is expected to be down for 2014 compared to 2013. They are expecting a 4% drop. Even though the service may be providing more trips to more fares, they are doing it at the reduced price which decreases the revenue.
Finally, Mark said that many people do depend on the taxi service and the taxi service is in its 4th bid cycle. They have 3 more years in their current contract.
