Neillsville City Council Approves Non-Lapsing Fund for Historic Preservation Commission
Wednesday, December 10th, 2014 -- 9:01 AM
-The Neillsville City Council approved the Historic Preservation Commission to set up a non-lapsing fund. The purpose of this fund is to allow the Historic Preservation Commission to raise money to use for other projects and help out local businesses and homeowners with historic preservation projects.
For example, this year, the commission has been selling calendars for the 2015 year that have a different historic pictures of the City of Neillsville for each month. The calendars have been selling very well and, if the commission sells all of them, they will have an additional $3,000 to use for various projects.
This money does not come from the budgeted $1,900 the commission receives from year-to-year or the pockets of the taxpayers and will help with historic preservation projects around the city. The commission decided to try the calendar idea this year and, if it was successful, they would continue it and try other ideas into the future.
