Wisconsin Wolf Hunters 4 Animals Over Quota
Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 -- 7:44 AM
-Wolf hunters exceeded Wisconsin's statewide kill limit by four animals. The DNR decided to end the wolf season on Friday after tallies on Thursday showed hunters were one wolf over the 150-animal limit. The agency's website shows the kill as of Friday was 154 wolves.
State law allows the hunt to fun from Oct. 15 through the last day of February or until hunters reach the statewide kill limit. Hunters have gone over quota in each of the state's three seasons.
The wolf hunt has been one of the most contentious outdoor issues Wisconsin has seen in years. A band of protesters calling themselves the Wolf and Wildlife Action Group planned to march on Gov. Scott Walker's office Monday morning and accuse the state of committing crimes against nature.
