October Third Highest Month on Record for Milk Prices

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsin farmers received an average price of $26.10 per hundredweight for their milk in October.According to the latest USDA Agricultural Prices report, that was down from September's record high price, but was still the third highest monthly price on record. The agency says the November price is expected to fall by another $1.70 to $24.40 per cwt. for Wisconsin milk.
The expected U.S. milk price for November is $23.40 per cwt, $1.00 lower than Wisconsin's price and $1.50 lower than the October U.S. price. All of the 23 major milk producing states are expecting a decrease in price from October to November.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange 40-pound block cheese price closed at $1.73 per pound on November 25, while barrels were $1.70 per pound. The CME butter price was $1.99 per pound.
