COVID Variant Discovered in Trempealeau County

A variant of the coronavirus has been identified in Trempealeau County.
According to the Trempealeau County Health Department, the strain, identified as B.1.1.7 was identified using genome sequencing. The Health Department hasn’t been able to determine where the person contracted the virus.
This variant was first discovered in England last year and first discovered in Wisconsin in January of this year.
