-A 17-year-old student was charged, in Taylor County Court, for a bomb threat that evacuated the Medford High School at the beginning October. The threat was reported around 1:15pm on October 1st after being discovered on the website Yik Yak by another student. Authorities investigating the incident discovered that the threat was made on a computer inside the school. They used geo-tracking to discover who was behind the incident and found out 17-year-old Jacob Gouza of Athens had sent the threat. The 17-year-old admitted to authorities during the questioning that he did it. He said he was just joking and he was sorry.
Police did sweep the building at the time and no bomb was found. Gouza was charged with a felony making a bomb scare in court yesterday. If convicted of the maximum amount he could spend 3.5 years in prison. This isn't the first time the Medford School has experienced this kind of threat. A similar incident back in February of 2013 resulted in a 17-year-old girl spending 30 days in jail.
