Taylor County Sheriff's Department Releases Name of Victim in Hunting Stand Accident

Tuesday, November 18th, 2014 -- 11:42 AM

-The Taylor County Sheriff's Department released the name of the man discovered burned in his hunting stand on Saturday.

Early Saturday morning the Taylor County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a report of a missing person. The initial reporter advised that he and his son had plans to meet a 52-year-old Todd Sikora of Medford at a City of Medford residence or at hunting land owned by Sikora several miles west of Medford. When the caller could not locate the individual at either location, he notified law enforcement out of concern.

The sheriff's department began a search which led to a wooden constructed, elevated box-like hunting stand on Sikora's property. His ATV was located near the stand. The stand had obviously been on fire at some point in the recent past and ultimately what is believed to be human remains were located within the rubble of the debris from the fire.

At this time, it is believed that the remains found in the stand were Mr. Sikora. However, the authorities will run forensic analysis to make sure, but it could take some time. The Taylor County Sheriff's Department doesn't suspect any foul play in the incident.
