Woman Arrested for Drug Use in the Hospital After Giving Birth to Her Child

-A Redgranite woman was arrested at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield on Friday of last week for drug use just after giving birth to her son.A nurse smelt a burnt odor coming from the room of 34-year-old Reva Dorene Martinez and called the authorities.
Besides the mother and her newborn son, the father and a friend were in the room as well. When authorities arrived, they all denied any drug use. A subsequent search turned up used syringes, a white powder and spoons with residue on them. The powder was identified as Oxycodone.
Martinez was arrested and charged with possession and neglecting a child. She was in Wood County Court on Monday afternoon and released on a signature bond, but she remains in custody for a probation hold in another county. The newborn is in the care of the hospital with assistance from Wood County Human Services.
