Clark County Board of Supervisors Hears Update on Emergency Communication System Upgrade, Part 5
Tuesday, November 18th, 2014 -- 9:42 AM
-The Clark County Board of Supervisors heard an update on the county's Emergency Communication System Upgrade.Clark County Emergency Management Director John Ross said the county will be using the General Services Administration in the project as well. The GSA programs will assist in connecting counties with vendors that have federal contracts for the equipment/services they're looking to purchase.
However, the GSA does not fund these procurements. They do not provide consulting services for designing or writing specifications for purchase. And most counties already have their own consultant on staff or under contract when using GSA services for procurement.
Clark County can, however, achieve benefits of a GSA contract pricing from vendors by including language in the request for bids indicating that if the bidder has a GSA contract, for the equipment/services, they must honor GSA prices if it's lower than what they're proposing in their bid.
