Neillsville City Council Hears More on Body Worn Cameras

-The Neillsville City Council approved starting the collection process for a loan given to a business three years ago.A $15,000 loan was approved by the council for a daycare business in the city. The business said that with the loan they would create 8 jobs in 3 years and pay that money back. That time limit is up this month and, after numerous attempts by the city attorney to contact the business, they have not contacted the city. The approval at Tuesday's meeting by the council will allow the city to start the collection process to get that money back.
The council also approved a donation to the police department to go towards body worn cameras. Neillsville Police Chief Scott Klueckmann had included money in the 2015 budget for the cameras, however, due to budget constraints, it had to be cut. But, two generous, anonymous donors donated $2,000 and $1,000 for the program. Chief Klueckmann said that a total of $4,000 is needed to get the program started, but he has an idea as to where the remaining $1,000 is going to come from. Chief Klueckmann thanked the donors for their generosity and said that all Neillsville Police Officers will be wearing body cameras by 2015.
