Neillsville School Board Discusses New Virtual Learning Program
Thursday, October 30th, 2014 -- 10:11 AM
-The Neillsville School Board discussed a new program providing virtual learning opportunities for their students at their meeting on Monday. The program, known as FuelEd, offers an elementary curriculum but has the options of more advanced curriculum as well. By signing up for this program, it also provides the district with an instructor that administers the tests and homework and grades them as well. With the district's current program, OdysseyWare, they have to assign an instructor to grade any papers that may come up in class.
The cost for FuelEd is similar to OdysseyWare. The district pays a certain amount for each class a student may want to take, with FuelEd, as opposed to the other which requires a contract for a student that includes a certain number of classes.
In the end, the board approved using FuelEd and will look at either dropping OdysseyWare all together or using it in conjunction with the new program.
