-The Neillsville School Board finalized the 2014-2015 tax levy for the district at their meeting on Monday. After the 3rd Friday count of student numbers in September, the board found out how much state aid would be and the final numbers could be put in place.
Fund 10 for the current school year is $3,542,186. Fund 80 is $75,000. This gave the district a total levy of $3,612,469. The levy is calculated by adding the Fund 10 and Fund 80 number; however if you do the math, you get a $4,717 difference when compared to Neillsville's finalized levy. That's because that $4,717 goes towards a computer tax.
It was also noted by District Administrator John Gaier that Neillsville took an unexpected drop in full time students this year. Because of that, the district was given a onetime amount of aid over $100,000 to help compensate and prepare them for next year as they will not be receiving that money for the 2015-2016 school year.
Finally, it was also noted that Neillsville's mil rate dropped from the originally calculated $8.56 to $7.94 per $100,000 of property. Compared to last year's mil rates, that actually puts Neillsville as one of the lowest in county.
