Neillsville Finance Committee Prepares 2015 Budget, City Attorney
Sunday, October 19th, 2014 -- 10:25 AM
-The Neillsville Finance Committee has been meeting for the past couple weeks to create the 2015 budget for the city.During a Finance Committee meeting held on October 6th, the committee heard the budget for the City Attorney. All-in-all, the budget was mostly in line with last year, but with a slight increase from 2014's $27,700 compared to 2015's $27,850. The increase was attributed to the salary line of the budget as the city attorney is not on the city's insurance and not receiving a benefit from the city absorbing more of the 9.9% increase in health insurance. The supplies and expenses line was decreased by $100 as well.
It was at this point that City Clerk Rex Roehl stated that 2015 is shaping up to be a tough budget decision year with increases in health insurance, workers compensation insurance, net taxi service and various departments asking for more money. At that time, it was stated that the city was $162,239 over their levy limit.
A public hearing for the 2015 budget will be held during the first common council meeting in November.
